unified sisters co/op
In 2020, Meredith Lockwood co-founded unified sisters co/op, a powerful collective of over 150 diverse women across the US dedicated to fostering equity and inclusion. This women's nonprofit was dedicated to women's empowerment and antiracism, cultivating a community of learning and growth through transformative conversations and meaningful connections.

Alongside childhood best friend Jessica Johnson, Meredith Lockwood co-founded unified sisters co/op, an antiracism nonprofit for women fostering equity and inclusion. Centering Black women, the co-founders envisioned a community that would empower women through collective action, transformative conversations, and meaningful connections. This vision translated into a carefully crafted brand identity, emphasizing sisterhood, inclusivity, and a commitment to social justice.
Recognizing the power of visual communication, Meredith prioritized a design aesthetic that was both elevated and approachable. The brand identity, developed with a focus on inclusivity, blended diverse perspectives and celebrated the unique strengths of each member. A key element was the development of a logo featuring intertwined letters, symbolizing the interconnectedness of the community. Storytelling played a crucial role, with compelling narratives highlighting the impact of the work and inspiring others to join the co/op.
Through collaborative efforts, unified sisters co/op successfully launched two cohorts, bringing together a vibrant community of women. With over 350 hours invested in monthly meetings and 200 hours dedicated to activism through volunteering with the ACLU and Democratic candidates, unified sisters co/op fostered strong bonds of sisterhood and became influential in coalition building. The positive feedback received from members, including referrals to new clients, served as a testament to the co-founders' vision and the power of community building.
